  • Team Role/Function: Landlubber

  • How did you become a Castaway? My husband and I first began attending CAC events a few years ago, supporting a special teacher and several friends in their mission. We liked it so much we decided to fully support the team on the ground by becoming Landlubbers.

  • Why are you a Castaway? Cancer has touched our lives in a deeply personal way. I was diagnosed with a Wilms tumor in my kidney at the age of four and was fortunate to win that fight. A classmate was diagnosed with leukemia and passed away at the age of 16 with his whole life ahead of him. Five years ago, we lost my mom to lymphoma, a loss that will always stay with us. And, most recently, a coworker was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer metastasized to the liver overnight. This has to stop.

  • What is your "essential gear" to be a good Castaway? The smile on my face 😊

  • My Family: I’m married to Felipe (Pipe) Yanes and we have a beautiful 19-month old son, Gabriel.

  • Where are you from? Born and raised in Miami, FL

  • Where'd you go to high school? Our Lady of Lourdes Academy

  • Where'd you go to College/Grad School? University of Florida (a Gator through and through)

  • Where do you work and what's your role there? ACI Worldwide - VP, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Speedpay segment

  • Favorite music/artists: I listen to all music and love to dance

  • Favorite movies/genre: Ferris Beuller’s Day Off

  • Favorite books: Not sure now, but when I was a little girl I loved “The Secret Garden” and “A Little Princess” by Frances Hodgson Burnett

  • Personal Fun Facts: Not sure it’s fun… but I collect Hard Rock Cafe pins from around the world

  • The mission of the Castaways mission is to help fund cancer research and honor those who've fought the fight. How do you (plan to) do that? By doing everything possible to raise money to support the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in their research to continue the fight against cancer. And, on the side, I support the Finance crew in managing the budget.
