  • Team Role/Function: Make sure the In Honor Page is up to date.

  • How did you become a Castaway? My cousin Lani forced me....Just kidding! I really wanted to get involved with Castaways after hearing all about it from Frigo and being involved as a donor for a couple of years.

  • Why are you a Castaway? Unfortunately, cancer has touched my family many times. I am grateful to have the opportunity to be involved with an organization that has a passionate mission and drive to not only raise awareness and remember those we have lost but also to help make a difference by funding critical research.

  • What is your "essential gear" to be a good Castaway? Being organized and a cold drink!

  • Conch Republic Navy Rank: Haven’t had the honor of being inducted

  • Favorite Castaways moment: Just getting started, haven’t experienced any yet but sure they’ll be great

  • Favorite Castaways quote: Just getting started.

  • Tell us about your Family: I married into the largest Cuban family ever....haha! But I wouldn't have it any other way! We are a village that is always there for each other! I have 2 boys - Nate and Matt and they usually take up all of my free time with some kind of practice, game, or tournament.

  • Where are you from? Honolulu, Hawaii

  • Where'd you go to high school? Mililani High School

  • Where'd you go to College/Grad School? University of Miami - It's all about the UUUU baby!

  • Where do you work? Columbus HS Science Teacher

  • Favorite music/artists: Fiji, Kapena, Pitbull, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, and Bad Bunny (of course!--although I only understand about 1/3 of what he says)

  • Favorite movies/genre: Anything that is action packed...NO scary movies, please!

  • Favorite books: I don't usually find much time to read....but my last favorite book was Crying in H Mart....hit close to home!

  • Personal Fun Fact: I was born and raised in Hawaii (and no, not in a grass shack on the beach--I wish), held the state record in Hawaii for a little over 18 years in the 4X100 relay race, and of course I surf.

  • How have I helped carry out the CAC mission of funding cancer research and honoring those who have fought the fight? I plan to help in any way that I can to help CAC reach their goals and live out our mission statement.
