How did you become a Castaway? In May of 2006, brother-in-law Jeff Croucher invited me in after learning they had fellow Castaway that was unable to paddle that year.
Why are you a Castaway? There is no better feeling than to give yourself to Mother Sea for the idea of knowing somehow someday you will make a difference in at least in that one someone's life that has had the ordeal of battling cancer.
Outside a kayak/bicycle, what is your "essential" gear? Cooler, radio, fellow castaway at the side, and time to reflect.

Favorite Castaways moment: OB's everlasting year after year of lunchtime breaks of peddling the troops for a splash of something in his shaky tin cup other than water.
